Music I like Part 14 - Beardyman

Recently i have been listening to so many great artists! If you are the proud owner of a dolby 5.1 system you should go ahead and watch this video. If not, you should watch it anyway. Beardyman is a entertainer, beatboxer and a club-act in one single person:

"Dolbyman" featuring Beardyman from Nicolas Will on Vimeo.

His album just dropped and jippieh, it covers a broad range of urban styles. Totally different from his live performance but one of the best releases of the year so far to me!

Music I like Part 13 - xXxXx

Just a quick one!
Today Leg-No, my partner on the Sunglasses EP, started a label and released the first EP on it, Be Bonkerz!
It is no less than xXxXx. Everybody attending my show at the Musikschutzgebiet Festival this year might still remember them from their performance with 808 Basslines and crazy vocal fx! To get the feeling of the festival just have a look at the pic! Great festival in beautiful landscape.
There are plenty of great remixes to dance to on this Ep, from Leg-No himself, Chris de Luca, his label partner and Lars Mosten and Thrills.
The Thrills also delivered a second remix for all the Dubstep heads (yes me too!). It is for free, so have a listen and download!

Music I like Part 12 - Ezra Bang & Hot Machine (EBHM)

The new 12"vinyl and the digital release on ITD comes as a 5 track stomper! Ezra Bang & Hot Machine (EBHM) already palyed Splash and Dockville in Germany but I always missed the show. I really hope I can make it to their show with Sick Girls on Dec. 3rd!
The Ep starts with Cadillac that features Char Johnson from Zebra Baby which you might know from one of my earlier posts.
Next to the oldschool flavour that continues through all three original tracks the tiny little bells are the highlight on this one.
Have a listen on the bottom of the post.
Royal Bloodline, the second track, is the winner of the package to me. You can check the really cool trashy video to have a listen before it is released on Dec. 3rd!
When you think the third track is a filler, you are wrong. War is just as much of a must have as the two other tracks.
In general it is really fat & funny beats, topped with great lyrics.
Remixes were provided by Dan Le Sac (this time without his partner Scroobius Pip) and Sick Girls. Both turn the original tunes into great songs for the dancefloor!
Download a third remix by Olugbenga from Metronomy for free!

Music I like Part 11 - Phon.o

Phon.o is contributing to my music not only since his remix on my last EP with Leg-No, where he remixed the title track!

Long before he already sold his Korg NanoPad to Nils which we used on a couple of EMMA tracks and shows before Nils finally crashed it.

You can check the weirdo rave remix here if you forgot what it sounds like:
LEG-NO & EMMA - SUNGLASSES feat. Tunde Olaniran (PHON.O Remix) by PHON.O

On the picture (which was taken by Feliks Horn, the director of the videoclip for Sunglasses) he is playing at the Tonfrequenz in Duesseldorf in 2008, it was the first time I saw him live. And the poster made it into the videoclip for Sunglasses! It is a vicious circle!

Now Phon.o released a remix for BoysNoize you shouldn't miss. The arrangement is pretty similar to the Sunglasses remix. Still the sound is different. It got a jumpy old school touch and definitely is going to make you happy on the dancefloor. Have a listen:
BOYS NOIZE - Trooper(PHON.O rmx) by PHON.O
Unique and outstanding. Can wait for his solo releases!

Music I like Part 10 - Tunde Olaniran

Tunde Olaniran (on the picture he is the guy in the lower left end talking to Amanda Blank) is definitely one of the most unique MCs out there. In Germany he was featured on two tracks by CLP and went on tour with them.

And he worked with xxXxx for one of their tracks. So I was very pleased he also joined in on Sunglasses with Leg-No.

Rapping all the way from Flint / Michigan he added a big verse to Sunglasses.

Also I would love to present some live footage so you can see his great stage dresses and performance, but since I have not been able to get hold of any videos, this is my favourite Tunde song instead:

Music I like Part 9 - French Fries

I promised to introduce all the remixing artists of the Sunglasses EP some time ago, recently I realized I am running late again!

Let's start off with French Fries!

This guy is only 18 and a killer already. He is in all the playlists; A-Trak (click the link to watch the video, if you watch careful you are going to see Leg-No & me), Brodinski etc. to name a few and for the last Mixmag Mixtape Calvin Harris picked his track Senta to be one of 13 songs.

Actually when this song was released some time ago, it was the first time I heard of French Fries. I came across this song on Myspace (no, myspace is not dead! not at all).

I am sure there is a lot more to come from this young French producer and I am really glad he was happy to remix Outdated!

Check the clip to find out more about him:

And be sure to check the remix he did of Outdated in a nice dj Set by Mat Cant:

Leg-No & EMMA - Outdated (French Fries rmx) starting at around 25.30min!

Music I like Part 8 - Zebra Baby

It is time for a new release on my label, ITD. This time they are coming along with Zebra Baby, two MCs from NY that teamed up with swiss producer Christian Fischer to record the magnificent W.A.R. EP. One of the singers, Char is best known from Simian Mobile Disco's "Hustler". My favourite tune on the 12" is "Jumbo". When the beat kicks in it feels like you got to smash something. But all of the songs are great. The remixer names read like some producer toplist, Schlachthofbronx, Chris de Luca and Boody B.

I remember the first time I listened to the Schlachthofbronx Remix of +1 on a massive club pa was after my show in Plauen. Kit Kut played the tune and I was drawn out of the backstage onto the dancefloor by the kickdrum.

This record is a winner for me!

Fashion Part 5 & Music I like part 7

“Let me have a Tshirt for 35 Deutsch Marks!” I still remember that line from good old The High and Mighty "Homefield Advantage" record! If you still want a shirt you may just hook me up! My shirt has a marvelous print on black American Apparel Ts. The design was delivered fresh out of the charging Hotcheese Crew factory. I met these guys when they threw a party at a gallery in Kassel and invited me to play. We had great party and when I woke up the next morning they were still partying at the rooftop of the gallery. And since they don’t only know how to party but also know how to treat some paint, a few month later the collaboration shirt was finished. Have a look at the pic how awesome it looks at Lionel from DSL.

By the way, DSL just released their new EP “Stupid Bitches” with great songs and a fantastic remix by DatA. I am already looking forward to see DatA dj in my hometown, Essen, next week. His tracks “rapture” and “one in a million” were on heavy rotation in EMMAland over the last couple of month.

Music I like Part 6 - Micachu & Supershirt

Hello Blogpeople, is it really that long ago?

Shame on me!

There is so many news! The crazy Hotcheese Crew guys designed some very nice tees for me! And I just signed up on twitter. Follow me right here.

Also I happened to play a couple of very nice shows in the last time with some amazing acts. In Kuenzelsau for example I shared stage with Supershirt once again! It is always a pleasure!

In Hamburg I supported Micachu & the Shapes. You might know them from their hitsingle „Golden Phone“ through which I first heared of them back in the days. Their show was great and I found this video, where WARPs very own Tim Exile is kind of live remixing one of their songs! I want more of this!

Music I like Part 5 - DJ COOKS

This time, I am going to post a mix again.
The attentive reader might have recognized I talked about Cooks earlier as he is part of the DELS live set.
Yo Majesty are going to bring him back on tour in Europe for some shows in summer, so watch out.
His monthly mix was rated a 5 * -"must listen" in Electronic Beats Magazine. I present the May Mix for download and I rate it 5* too!

Some nice underground bangers on there.

Music I like Part 4 - Thunderheist

I might be a bit late about that, because everybody blogged about Thunderheist already.
But I just got hold of a vinyl copy of their LP, and on top of that, I was confirmed to play with them in Berlin on May the 30st.
My favourite track on their Lp at the moment is Sweet 16, but it changes, since there are so many excellent tracks.
Anyways,  if you are from Berlin you should show up at the Villa on the 30st. In addition to Thunderheist and EMMA, Schlachthof Bronx are going to perform that night.
So many good arguments. Party on.

Music I like Part 3 - Bugati Force

Long time no talk.
I am very busy at the moment with various stuff. But now I found the time to introduce 3 guys from Berlin that hit the dancefloor like a bombshell. Having a look at them you'll feel like back in the days, when Run DMC sang "My adidas". They produce songs and dj under the name "Bugati Force".
You might not have heard of them yet, but they did production and remix work for people like Ludacris and Lumidee and lately for CLP on their new EP.
Their "All Fillers, no Killers" Mix is blasting in my headphones for month now.
Go get it by clicking the link. And have a look for their upcoming releases on "Exploited", I can hardly wait for that.

Music I like Part 2 - Arabian Prince

Arabian Prince aka Professor X is an artist most people forgot about. He was part of NWA back in the days. A couple of month ago Stone Throw released "The Anthology" and I couldn't resist to buy the vinyl. (If you don't understand why just have a look at the artwork;)).
I confess some of the tracks could have been a bit shorter and more on point, but nonetheless it is big! I still listen to it quite often.
One track has very strange similarities to one of my all time favs, 808 Beats by DJ Unknown. Wonder if they have got something to do with each other. Hit me up if you know more about it.
Westcoast!

Music I like Part 1 - DELS

I came across DELS, when I was checking Yo! Majesty Tour dates. He supports them on their tour across Europe. His music sounds really fresh. Live he is touring with an amazing drummer and I am really sorry, I am going to miss their show next tuesday in Berlin.
Yesterday I recieved his "Lazy" 7" out on Moshi Moshi.
You should def catch a copy.
My fav track at the moment.

By the way, he is produced by Joe Hotchip (of Hotchip). Another reason to give it a try.
